Is your garbage disposal not what it used to be?
With all the food that gets washed down the drain, it's not surprising that you might find yourself in a situation where you flip the switch and there's no satisfying whir. Thankfully, we're here to help.
If it's a case of a good disposal that just needs repair, there are a number of possible causes. Small bones, impacted bits of harder foods, and even the occasional broken fork tine can cause a perfectly good disposal to stop dead. If it's a jam you suspect, don't reach in!
Instead, unplug the power to the unit at the wall socket (usually under the sink). Then, get a flashlight and take a look. If you see anything obvious, use some tongs to pull it out. If you can't see anything, but still suspect the unit is jammed, give us a call.
Other problems like a clogged P-trap, an overheated motor, or even built up grease can also cause your disposal to stop working.
Whatever the reason, give us a call and we can help! It might just be a simple matter of us coming out to clear a clog.
Does your disposal need to be replaced?
Or, maybe you don't have a garbage disposal but want one installed. In either case, a good disposal is only as reliable as the installation. Once again we're here to help. Our professional, courteous Plumbers will:
- Install disposal unit on the mounting ring.
- Hook up disposal discharge tube to the waste trap.
- Check the plumbing for leaks.
- Plug in and test the disposal unit.
- Hook up a dishwasher outlet to the disposal (if applicable).
- Install disposal sink flange & mounting ring.
