Signs Your Water Heater Needs Maintenance

Tacoma Hot Water Heater RepairThere are several factors to consider if you suspect your water heater is having technical problems. From the color of your water as it comes out of the faucet, to how much time it takes for the water to reach a certain temperature, moreover, if your water gets hot, but doesn't stay hot long enough to even wash your hands or take a quick shower.

First, take note of the color of your water, does it appear murky? And if this discoloration only appears when the hot water is turned on, chances are a good bit of sediment has settled to the bottom of your hot water tank. This sediment clotting at the base only happens after a great many years of use, and is fairly easy to remove.

Another sign of a mishap with your water heater is you could possibly find it's taking much longer than is necessary for the hot water to heat up. Unfortunately, if you've always had an issue with your hot water taking a long time to reach the proper temperature this issue may be slightly less obvious. However, if this is the first time you've noticed this issue, one or both elements in the heater probably need adjusting.

Finally, if you should see that you're getting slightly warm water it could mean the bottom element is the only one working. On the other hand, when your water does get hot quickly but doesn't stay hot, that means only the top section is working.

These are tiny, inexpensive problems when they begin, but if left to fester, they could quickly get out of hand. Thus becoming an abhorrent inconvenience as well as an expensive on. Moreover, it would be wise to routinely check your heater and nip any problems in the bud, before they bloom into full blown messes.
